At The Eye Surgery Hastings we are dedicated to providing a comprehensive eye health care service in a caring, friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Vision is one of our most valued senses and we understand the anxiety that can accompany an eye health concern. We will work closely with you to make sure you understand what your eye condition is, your options for treatment and the likely outcome of your condition. We encourage you to ask questions about your eye health as we feel understanding your eye condition is a key step in your treatment and recovery.
How long will my Appointment take?
In recent years ophthalmological technology has advanced significantly, allowing us to assess and treat eye conditions with greater accuracy and improved outcomes. We have several new machines in the office to allow us to do many of these assessments on-site on the day of your appointment. This is a great advancement in medicine, though it can mean that appointment length is often unpredictable and can take some time, particularly if it is the first time you have attended the clinic. To try to make your appointment a pleasant experience, we have designed the waiting area to be light and airy and have provided free wifi for your convenience.
Please note that for a first appointment we recommend you allow up to 3 hours between arriving and leaving.
Will I need a driver?
Unless your condition is an eyelid concern only, it is very likely that we will need to dilate your pupils to allow us to get a better view of the retina at the back of your eye. This can cause glare and blurred vision for a few hours, and for this reason we recommend you have a driver to drive you home after your appointment. Being close to local amenities in Hastings means drivers and carers can leave The Eye Surgery to do a spot of shopping, or have a coffee, and we will happily call them to let them know when you are ready to be picked up.
Please note that for most patients we recommend you have a driver to drive you home after your appointment.
Do I need Insurance?
Our service is open to both insured and self-paying patients. We are affiliated with Southern Cross and work closely with all other insurance companies in New Zealand. All policies are different and we recommend that you contact your insurance company prior to your appointment to discuss your specific policy. If you would like more information on our pricing structure please call us on 06 650 5798 or email us at info@theeyesurgeryhastings.co.nz and we will be happy to help.
We hope this page has been helpful. If you have any further questions or suggestions as to how we can improve our services to you, please don’t hesitate to contact us by phone on 06 6505798 or email at info@theeyesurgeryhastings.co.nz
